Earlier this year, I told myself that a few years down the line, I’ll look at my pictures and only then will it dawn on me that I pretty much wore the same kind of clothes my entire life – classy, covered up, “proper” clothes. And there is nothing wrong with that. I was raised that way and dare I stray…
More than anything, I’m grateful that I now have fun with my choice of clothes. It’s the reason I was able to rip my jeans and come up with this design, or the first outfit you are about to see, which is an interesting mix of class (the briefcase and long sleeves) and fun (the cropped top). This does not in anyway mean that the classy side of me is lost. No, she’s always here and you’ll see her in the second outfit.
Palazzo Pants + Cropped Shirt
Palazzo pants are my absolute favorite kind of pants right now. It’s like a longer pair of culottes, which I loved this summer. With having to wear skinny jeans from Monday to Friday, I appreciate the break palazzo pants gives and more-so the fit of this high-waist pair.
I wondered how I’ll explain to you my choice of using a briefcase with this outfit.
It reminds me of the older brother I never had.
If I had a brother, he would be the classiest kid on the block. Realize I didn’t say “coolest” because he couldn’t have been cool if he had me as a sister. I would have loved to hang out with him and his guys, disturbing and bugging them as much as possible. I know he would have been overprotective, but as my brother not my mother, I could have easily wiggled out of his web of over-protection. Oh and his female friends on the other hand would have gotten the glares of scrutiny each and every time they step into our house. Maybe that’s why I don’t have a brother.
Palazzo Pants + Frill top + Longline Blazer
For this outfit, I played with the loose, layered effect the navy blue frilly top gives when paired with these wide-leg palazzo pants. I opted for my nude long jacket because nude is my go-to color for jackets and blazers. I love neutrals as much as I love my colors. This outfit is very work appropriate and if I had an interview to attend, I’d rock this too. For a night time outing, simply switch the shoes for a pair of strappy sandals and/or opt for a chain clutch instead of the purse. I’m neither a huge fan of bags nor animal print, but I love the snakeskin detail on this bag. And it’s from Ross!!!
