Read about my review of Half of a Yellow Sun – the movie.
The movie screening was at AFI Silver Theatre and Cultural Center in Silver Spring, Maryland. What a hike! But I went with a friend so it was worth the hike. At the end of the movie, we rushed out to see Chimamanda only to be told that she wasn’t meant to attend Thursday’s screening, Sunday’s. Fair enough since I have seen and talked to her before after her release of Americanah. We were consoled with a reception featuring the great jollof rice, plantains, chicken and wine. Yum! I ate them all, in the spirit of a true Nigerian.
After the feast, I met a few people, exchanged business cards and took pictures. Someone was particularly curious and at first, he thought I was a photographer or with the media. Another glance at me and he said the keyword – “Blogger!” (insert Skype dance emoticon)
Hope you enjoy the few moments I captured, right from my departure. My choice of clothes was clearly oblivious of the impending chills on Thursday. Flats in the winter? Don’t blame me. My 2 pairs of leggings saved my legs. Get my hair bow here.
I’ve worn this skirt before in Shanghai. In the coming weeks, I’ll make another post/section titled “You’ve Seen This Before” to show you the different ways I’ve worn a part of a blogged outfit. Prior to starting this Style Section on my blog, I hated repeating my “outing clothes”. I actually have a suitcase filled with clothes I’ve only worn once or at least under 5 times. It started from my childhood. I rarely went out, so the few times I did, I stepped out in a new party dress; I only recall wearing 2 of them more than once.
Earlier this year, I created a Threadflip account to sell the clothes I was done with but now, I am completely excited to wear some bits again…AND blog about them! So here’s a slideshow with 5 pictures of the first time I wore this Lime box pleat/skater skirt and Chambray shirt.
